The platform is a Solaris server (both sparc and x64) hosting several web applications in a Tomcat container, an Oracle database used to store configuration and custom platform specific software.

Successful candidate will maintain existing and develop new Automated Test Equipment software and database for volume productions at an outsourced Contract Manufacturer. Duties include, but are not limited to test automation software development, test implementation and training / maintenance, test data management, and writing comprehensive test plans
This position works closely with hardware RF designer engineers to develop automated test equipment software for circuit and system levels and with manufacturing engineers (both internal to SOMA and external Contract Manufacturers) to introduce test platforms and practices for volume production.
This will include developing and executing test strategies and test automation platforms in LabVIEW, in order to achieve aggressive design verification and manufacturing automated test software.

SOMA’s Toronto office is seeking CPE Technical Manager to report to the VP Systems Engineering.
Position Description
The CPE Technical Manager is responsible for the all the technical aspects of the CPE. He/she will work closely with engineering, product managers, and the business development team on the selection, specification, delivery, and ongoing support of third party CPEs into SOMA's WiMAX product line. He/she is responsible for evaluation, tracking, monitoring and support of SOMA's pre & post-launch CPE products.
Essential Requirements
The CPE Technical Manager:
- Creates and owns the technical specification of the CPE (regulatory, standards compliance, environmental, physical, performance, features, reliability, applications, deployment, end user interfaces, craft interfaces, etc.)
- Works in conjunction with the product and business development managers on the negotiation of CPE specifications and delivery with the CPE vendor
- Tracks the vendor against key milestones and deliveries across all CPE products
- Works with several vendors and products in parallel with overlapping and offset delivery time lines
- Works with engineering test resources to formulate technical acceptance criteria for the CPE
- works with engineering development and system design in a coordinator/lead role in the formulation of CPE specifications
- Is a key contributor to the creation of the vendor contract and statement of work
- Identifies issues and defects as they arise and escalates to SOMA management when appropriate
- Recommends solutions and/or courses of action on aforementioned issues and defects
- Troubleshoots root cause and interfaces with SOMA and vendor engineering staff for product resolution
- Provides recommendations and long term remedies that need to be implemented related to operating systems, applications, hardware, product interface, required troubleshooting tools, etc
- Tracks all CPE products throughout their product life cycle paying attention to feature/product deficiencies, defects, early life failures, etc.
- Works with the vendor to resolve any compliance issues with SOMA's infrastructure products
- Performs CPE network user trials to identify key network & customer impacting issues prior to product launch
- Provides written reports of test processes and results
- Budgets the equipment and personnel resources required for the project
Additional Skills, Experience and Education Required
- Engineering degree from an accredited university
- 4 to 8 years engineering product development/test experience in relevant fields (wireless, CPE development, embedded software development, testing, etc.)
- Experience in interfacing with external suppliers in the contract, technical, execution, and delivery phases
- Knowledge of and experience with relevant standards (WiMAX, OMA, VoIP, etc.)
- RF design or testing experience with CPE products
- Knowledge of CPE operation, including voice, data with emphasis on always on devices
- Experience with or knowledge of embedded software products (VxWorks, LINUX, etc.)
- Strong inter-personal skills, ability to coordinate and bring together cross-functional network teams together related to product analysis and troubleshooting
- Self motivated, strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work on multiple troubleshooting tasks simultaneously
- Familiarity with IP Network, computer networking as well as wireless data and voice CPE products
- Knowledge of wireless CPE relevant regulatory regimes and standards (emissions, safety, etc.)
