SOMA Networks Signs Agreement with SAIC to Provide End-to-End Telecommunications Systems for Wireless Broadband Deployments

Leading Engineering Company Lends Systems Integration Expertise to Deployments of SOMA Networks’ Amosphere System

San Francisco – June 26, 2002 – SOMA Networks today announced it will team with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), one of the world’s leading systems design and integration firms and the parent company of Telcordia Technologies, to offer end-to-end telecommunications systems to North American and global service providers. This alliance can leverage the capabilities and expertise of both companies to enable service providers to effectively and profitably deploy SOMA Networks’ next-generation wireless broadband solution, which delivers multi-megabit Internet access and carrier-grade voice services to the residential and small-office market.

With its unique expertise in program management, network engineering, systems integration, operational and business support systems, managed services, and operations support for fixed line and wireless service providers, SAIC can provide critical support to service providers in the management and deployment of SOMA Networks’ Amosphere™ system. Such support can enable service providers to seamlessly integrate the SOMA system with existing billing, information technology, and other systems and rapidly launch a profitable broadband data and carrier-grade voice service business. The alliance will utilize both companies’ current customer experience to provide the best possible customer solutions and will include a joint marketing effort to capitalize on mutually beneficial wireless broadband opportunities around the globe.

“There is an enormous potential in the global wireless broadband market, and we believe that SOMA Networks can help us capture this opportunity,” said Robert K. Young, senior vice president and general manager of SAIC’s Global Telecommunications Group. “SOMA Networks’ cost-effective broadband data and carrier-grade voice solutions can expand SAIC’s overall wireless product offering to our customers.”

Amosphere is the industry’s only fully converged broadband data and carrier-grade voice solution, dramatically improving the economics of delivering communications services by lowering capital and operating costs and maximizing potential revenue per user. Built on a foundation of industry-proven wideband CDMA technology, enhanced for Internet performance using patent-pending, state-of-the-art radio and quality-of-service techniques, the SOMA Air Interface™ delivers peak rates of up to 12 Mbps per user, carrier-grade voice, and managed multimedia services. The system features non-line-of-sight access, true “plug-and-play” subscriber installation capability to eliminate truck rolls, and industry-leading cellular coverage and capacity for a highly profitable service provider business case. Amosphere supports PCS, MMDS, WCS, and 3.5Ghz spectrum.

“This alliance with SAIC will enable SOMA Networks to provide our customers with a complete turnkey solution,” said Greg Caltabiano, senior vice president of worldwide markets for SOMA Networks. “SAIC’s ability to integrate and manage the entire network is exactly what many of SOMA Networks’ customers are demanding.”
